This is it. My personal must-have from all S/S 2010 collections. While many reviews of Phoebe Philo’s latest collection for Celine focussed on her leather pieces I fell in love with the laced-up tops and dresses.

What a lazy Friday in Dubai. But not in a good way. It started with me sleeping till three in the afternoon even though I wanted to get up early to go to the pool, to drive around and take some pictures and finally to drive to Ikea to buy some stuff for our flat. None of that happened. So in order to reduce any guilty feelings I cleaned the whole apartment and did the laundry while boyfr took care of the cat. I’ve started some half-hearted attempts to take interesting pictures since I wanted to get more familiar with my new camera. But the light is bad and… I don’t know. Not my day today. Tomorrow…

Two Marni necklaces mixed up. Marni... Tomorrow.

One of those rare moments: the devil sleeps.

Back to beauty.

I’ve watched the show online and loved everything Tomas Maier designed for the Bottega Veneta S/S 2010 collection. But it looks much, much prettier when you see the clothes worn on moving models. That’s why I don’t even put still shots, apart from the shoes and the sunnies and make up.

Interior design is a tricky affair.

Since I wasted two hours at home waiting for the maintenance guy who didn’t come I had time to take some pictures of our lobby which has been … erm… embellished over the past couple of days. Isn’t it lovely?

But yes, I shouldn’t be so ironic. They really try hard and it could be just as well the other way round that nobody’s taking care of anything. So I’m glad we have a landlord who does care of his buildings and enjoy the sight. 🙂

You see them in almost every building in Dubai: The guy in the middle is HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai. To his left is Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. And unfortunately I keep on forgetting the name of the third guy.

I really used to like MMM. But I can’t get my head around the S/S 2010 collection. It seems to have a bit of everything already seen at other shows for F/W 2009. And if this is meant to be ironic I probably don’t get it. Does that make sense?

But I do like those shirt dresses. Am I too boring?

Head turner.

I’m not the kind of person, who has to post cute pictures of her pet every day. Simply because I don’t want to bore other people. But I have to make an exception for that one. She is amazing. And when I’m fed up with her because she doesn’t stop hunting for hands and feet or suddenly changes her mindset from super cuddly to super feisty – it’s only for a moment, and I’m in love with her again.

So simple. So chic.

Tell me why I don’t like Sundays.

Filed under: Uncategorized — blindcopy @ 12:08 pm

I don’t know. Everybody seems to be in a strange mood today – or maybe it’s just me. The weekend was way too short and on Sundays the madness starts all over again. Why does everything here in Dubai take so much time? Even after more than three years I just can’t get used to it. People, you make me crazy!

In this state of mind I had to enclose myself with disturbing things. I want to think about stuff, I want to immerse myself in stuff. For once I want things to be a little more complicated. I hope I don’t sound arrogant but I have to say: Dubai and its people are quite shallow sometimes.

This would be the perfect day to visit an exhibition. For now I have to settle with the internet, where I came across Gregory Crewdson’s pictures.

Who is the monster?

Filed under: Uncategorized — blindcopy @ 8:14 am

The Nanas she became famous with are all-embracing – to such an extend that many people don’t know that Niki de Saint Phalle has done so much more! I love her shooting pictures and her bride sculptures, and together with her husband Jean Tinguely she created the most beautiful machines I’ve ever seen. If you’re not only interested in art but also in the life of a really exceptional woman, please do watch “Who is the monster – You or me?” a documentary with and about Niki de Saint Phalle. I watched it coincidentally a couple of years back and fell in love.
