Jun.

Some things can’t be described. I’ve seen Jun Takahashi’s Graces before and always felt happy. They remind me of those short movies with those animated puppets – papa bear, mama bear and little bear. In the dark woods. Childhood entertainment. Like in “There There” one of my favourite music videos by Radiohead.

This guy is a genius. No surprise, Rei Kawakubo was one of the first to have an eye on him. And – as many Japanese artists and designers – Jun is the impersonation of cool. It’s funny. And I’m not sure whether he’s being ironic or serious. But I am sure, that soon everybody in design, art and fashion wants to have a piece of Jun. See you in the line.

Jun Takahashi. Would love to meet him, get rid of all my questions and steal a Grace.

Space.

They have two scratch trunks with different platforms, they have an igloo, they have a basket with and one basket without pillows, they are allowed to sit/lie on the couches, on the chairs and even in our bed – and what do our monsters do? They fight for a small carton which I was about to throw.

Talking about space: We’re moving again. In two weeks time. I hope we can finalize the contract tomorrow… Small villa, two bedrooms, huge garden, balcony… Pics hopefully soon to follow.

So glad little tabby Feia is better now. She had a fever last week and we had to leave her with the vet hospital for two days.

Depressing weather.

This pic was taken before the rain came. We were sitting on the terrace of the Belgium Beer Cafe, Crown Plaza, Festival City. Did anyone know that they are not allowed to serve beer from 4-6 pm on Fridays? The waiter said it was a new law. And when did we arrive? Right, at 4pm.

Melli is MINI.

We have her back – our gorgeous Melli aka Lil M and one part of the highly successful M ‘n Ms (Moe and Melli). Melanie is a really talented design student from Germany who spent last year working here at the agency. Obviously she loves working with us as much as we love working with her, because she’s back in Dubai and back at work. Unfortunately only for her two-month semester break, but that’s better than nothing and we enjoy every day with her. Today she went to our client to present and represent the perfect MINI Cabrio driver. That’s why we had to style her a little, so that she would look “Always Open” just like MINI Cabrio. But even when Melli is not MINI she attracts a lot of attention with her Bambi-eyes and her blond hair.

Here comes the sun.

OK, this is the second headline which is also a Beatles song. Ignore that ’cause it has nothing to do with my taste in music or anything (not that I don’t like the Beatles). I just can’t help it – for every situation in life I’ve got a song in my head no matter if I like it or not. So this was the first thing I thought when Alex and I left our apartment two weeks ago to go to the beach – by the way the first time in (at least) one year: Here comes the sun.

Alex and I are both really white. I don’t get a tan easily. I’ve inherited my mother’s skin. That’s why I was whiter than white – almost transparent – before we headed to Nasimi Beach. For Non-Dubaians: Nasimi Beach belongs to Atlantis Hotel on the Palm but everyone can actually go there. They have tables, couches and bean bags on the beach, and a friendly service to bring you all kinds of (freakin’ expensive) alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and food from their BBQ. And they have a DJ playing chilled music.

It was a perfect day. OK, I should have used sun protection for my face, too, but apart from the bad sunburn I got on my nose and forehead everything was good.

You say good-bye and I say hello.

It’s been a while. But remember (?) – my MacBook Pro died and since I’m such a creature of habit I refused to work on anyone else’s machine. Unfortunately I couldn’t just go to the next store and buy me a new laptop. I had to order one and I’m still waiting for it. Obviously I also couldn’t keep up my spoilt attitude not to work on anyone else’s machine. So I finally accepted Alex’ really nice offer to use his old laptop he fixed especially for me, it’s a PC though. And at the office I’m using my friend’s MacBook Pro – thank you Moe!

I know it’s ridiculous, but I was so upset – this laptop died after only 2 years without even giving me a little warning. At least Alex was able to save all my bookmarks, docs, pics and stuff. But I can’t tell you what I’ve been going through. Anyways.

The Mac was not the only thing I had to bemoan. Freaking cats killed our new vase while Alex was away on a business trip – it’s always the same: As soon as Alex takes his big suitcase and leaves the little brats start acting weird. The new vase was standing there for more than one week without a paw touching it. It looked really pretty – and of course it had some nice flowers and a lot of water in it. Alex left and in the first night without him the cats decided to give the vase the death sentence. That was sooo much fun… It took me half an hour in the middle of the night to clean and dry and vacuum clean the floor, trying to hold the nosy cats back at the same time (don’t know why I didn’t just lock them up in another room).

Apart from that I’ve been really, really busy at work for the last six weeks – which is also bad, since I’m working on a laptop which doesn’t have Windows Word, and I’m a copywriter. Yeeees, I know I should stop feeling sorry for myself. Because: I’m doing really well. Working at the agency is even better than O.K., it’s fun (forget about last week). The weather has been nice (apart from last week), like a warm spring or early summer in Europe – the only sad thing is that I didn’t have enough time to enjoy it.

RIP.

RIP. MacBook and Vase said good-bye.
I said hello to my new Marni Top and bracelet – 60% off at DIFC.

Bow on my Marni top.

Marni bracelet.
