Kelly.

This is my friend Kelly. She is Brazilian and we met here in Dubai (that’s why I love Dubai – you meet people from all over the world. It’s fantastic. There’s no other place that melts so many different nationalities. Around 80% of Dubai’s population are expats!) Kelly is a very natural beauty and very stylish, too. Unfortunately, I’m a bad photographer and the light yesterday was really bad. So, in real life Kelly is even more beautiful! She has that piercing over her lips which attracts people here like the light attracts mosquitoes. It’s really funny.

We had not seen each other for quite a while, so it was great when we finally met yesterday over lunch and coffee. We’ve been to Dubai Mall and conquered all the boutiques – Chanel, Chloe, Luis V, Stella, Marc, McQueen (very sad, but here there’s still a great amount of this summer collection left)… Dubai Mall has them all.

We also went to DIFC Village Gate just to find most of the Boutiques closed for the day. It’s sad because it really looks like they will close for good soon. I asked a sales assistant at Villa Moda and she said it was all gossip, but you could see… Marni haven’t even received the “new” summer collection, yet. It would be a shame if they had to close down, because it’s the only avant-garde fashion place here in Dubai with flagship stores like Maison Martin Margiela and the like.

Another sad thing: Kelly and her husband Leo will leave Dubai soon. Even though we didn’t meet very often recently it was always good to know she’s here. And when we finally meet after ages it’s always like it’s been only yesterday… know what I mean?

She just came back from Istanbul (Turkey) with some amazing pieces of jewellery.
