Trying to catch up. Part 2.

Filed under: Uncategorized — blindcopy @ 1:55 pm

So, this is me trying to focus on something (like writing my blog) while I’m off from work. Having holidays is so good that I’m already scared of going back to the office next week (after only one week). I’m enjoying my time at home so much you can’t imagine. Just a couple of minutes ago I gave the small cat a massage and she went off to her usual daytime sleeping place totally relaxed.

I had my sister Michiko over for the past couple of days. She was on her way from Germany to Japan to stay there for three months, so she visited Alex, me and the cats for five days. And it was lovely. We spent three afternoons at the beach enjoying sun baths (which especially I needed desperately – now I’m looking healthier), fresh fruit cocktails, reading magazines and books… We went to Sister’s Beauty Lounge, to the NailSpa, to Dubai Mall, to Mall of the Emirates… had amazingly healthy and delicious breakfasts at home… And Alex used the opportunity (of me being at home) to have his Lasik eye surgery (it’s been the third day after and he still can’t believe that he doesn’t need his lenses or glasses anymore). It went really well.

I had two things I wanted to give to my sister, a dress and a top I had bought online, but which didn’t fit or suit me. I didn’t want to give them back because I had really fought to get them (and they are sooo beautiful) and I knew that Michiko would love them. But once she started “shopping” in my closet she wouldn’t stop! 😀 (No, it was rather me who discovered more and more things that looked so much better on her than on me.) But let’s start with the things she really bought.

Michiko got that fantastic ACNE silk blazer and Kova-T shirt at Boutique 1. Even though I’m smaller or rather shorter than my little sister the blazer looked also good on me. 🙂 So she decided to leave it here with me (yay) and I will order her another one online (they can send to Japan – ACNE don’t ship to the UAE at the moment, grrr).

A close-up of the washed-out silk. So good!

This is the golden belt from my (now Michiko’s) ACNE suit pants. The pants must have been made for her. I really had to give them to Michiko.

“Oh shit, it fits me.”

And it looks amazing on her – while I looked more like a Romanian farmer’s wife in this lovely Isabel Marant dress.

ACNE, again. I bought two similar tops. The almost only difference was the fabric. Turned out that this one in a heavier crepe material looked like an old sac on me (while the lighter cotton version is good for me). For Michiko it was perfect. So it’s hers now.

But the best thing about it…

… is the Kimono belt that came with it. Makes the whole thing a little more elegant and sooo cool, no?

P.S. There’s one more thing I gave her, which is not shown here. A really nice Stella McCartney beige tank top with a big golden zipper on a golden leather stripe on it.

P.P.S. Two weeks before Michiko came to visit us, we had lovely Willy and Vika – good friends of Alex – here. We had such a good time. The highlight: On their last day in Dubai, Willy proposed to Vika (they’ve been together for 12 years) on the highest building of the world, our Burj Khalifa. “Cheesy… corny…” you think? I thought so, too, to be honest. But no, I was so wrong. It’s been one of the most romantic things. 🙂

  3. Now why I know why you’ve been gone so long… I’ve been missing you!! You are such a generous sister (though I don’t believe one second that you could ever not look good in the lovely Marant dress). I want to come for ‘shopping’ in your wardrobe, too! So glad you had a great time with your sister. xo

  4. Your sister is beautiful. Lucky girl, she has that model-esque figure that would look good in anything! That kimono belt is such an interesting and unexpected touch.
