Where to start?

Japan 1976: (from left) grandpa, my mother, my father (with silly me on his lap), granduncle and uncle.

Grandma, mum, dad and me.

These are pictures of my first Japan visit in 1976. My grandma dug them out when I visited her last week.

I hope I’ll be able to post pictures of my recent (my 6th) Japan trip from tomorrow on. Right now I’m super tired and don’t know where to start. Japan, and especially Tokyo, is simply overwhelming. You have no idea. Since I’ve already seen all the tourist places like Asakusa, I’ve focused this trip mainly on one activity: shopping (oh, and I really bought a lot – I’m gonna post pics!). Apart from that I went to see my grandma, my grand uncle, uncle, friends of my family… and even my late grandpa on a beautiful cemetery in Tokyo (we had a beer together and smoked a cigarette. Seriously.) I sat at the beach of Enoshima and looked at Fuji-san, I sang karaoke for four (4!) hours, ran miles and miles in Tokyo’s underground, had delicious BBQs, sushi and Italian pasta (oh so good!), drank liters of Kirin and Asahi beer, smoked countless packs of cigarettes, had my hair straightened in a four-hour session, met Lady Gaga’s shoe designer, watched TV under the shower, and, and, and…

I still don’t know how I should structure my Japan posts (according to themes?). However, please check them out in the coming days…

  1. i look forward to your japan posts. themes would be a good way to organize them- either that, or chronological order. i’m sure your readers will enjoy them regardless.
