Pradissimo.

Tataaa – my new Prada shoes. And socks. They are from Japan – my size. Resort 2011. Yippiiie. I had tried them on for fun (always bad, bad, bad) – and fell in love with them. But since they were really expensive (I told you: designer clothes are almost double the price in Tokyo compared to, let’s say, USA. Well, depending on the designer. MMM’s Taby flats for example were even more than double the USA/Europe price) and had already bought that denim dress (and lots of other stuff in other stores), I backed off. I bought the green/black socks though, thinking they would go well with any other black shoe.

But I could never get the Pradas out of my head. So the first thing I did back in Dubai: I’ve checked online, how I could get hold of my dream shoes in my size and a better price than the Tokyo option. And yes – Saks had them for pre-order. But when I tried to order, the system told me, that there was something wrong and Saks couldn’t finalize my order. After trying over and over again for the following two days I’ve contacted Saks via their live-chat and learned that there was a waiting list. Apparently the shoes were already sold out before they had even hit the stores. The sales assistant checked if there was any other way to get hold of a pair in size 35 – but: Not a single pair available. In the USA.

So I finally called my sister in Tokyo and asked her to run to the Aoyama Prada store a s a p! and get me those shoes. And lovely Michiko did. The last pair. They are heavenly. Perfect. I walk on 9,0 cm, on a slightly chunky heel. And they are so soft, I almost don’t even feel them on my feet. The socks add a little quirkiness, and I will totally wear them – even though Alex already told me he wouldn’t leave the house with me if I was wearing the socks ‘n sandals version. Sad, because I think: It looks cool and I love, love, love it.

  1. trying on shoes for fun….yes that is always asking for trouble. 😉
your new pradas look cute and quirky with green socks, and chic and sexy without. a versatile pair of shoes. i hate when saks does that- offer a new shoe style, you order, and wait, and then….uh oh, oops, sorry but they aren’t actually available. has happened to me!
well done on your sleuthing. very nice of your sister, too.

  2. Whenever I end up trying on things for fun, guess what? It ends up coming home with me. I like the green socks, they sort of like teal-ish to me. The shoes are beautiful too. This is random but when you say your husband won’t leave the house w/ you wearing them, then I scroll down and under related posts it says: LOVE HURTS. Anyway, I thought that was a funny coincidence!

  3. wha a lovely pair! I can definitely see where you coming from, if something I can’t get out of my head the next day still, I have to have it! Both style, with or without socks, they’re both super!

  4. OK you made me die!
The shoes are incredibly beautiful but with the socks they become something even more special. And I like that shade of green these primary colors always inspire me the mood for savage color block!

And I envy your cinderella feet *feet n°40 talking* 😀

By the way I had that too: if the after I still think about it, it means that it has to be mine AT ALL COSTS! (these year I am doing all my sale shopping like this and I have to admit that you can’t buy something wrong or that you’ll never wear… I like it!)

  15. Kazuko, I read your super nice comment on my blog, but I wanted to be sure you read my reply so here it is:

1- Thank you very much!! But I really still have to learn a lot (I think I’ll get the Gent Art Academy night courses next year!It will be tough with work and everything but I think It’ll be worth it)

2- I love the Smashing Pumpkins! When I was a teenager they were really my world, inspiring my taste and lifestyle in everything (but that’s the big power that music always had on me, in general) I knew all their songs by heart!!
Peolpe in Blegium are reserved it’s true, I think it’s why you found them so cold because in gent they don’t speak French (Flanders is Dutch-speaking and they’re so good with English that after one year I still can’t speak their language :p)and in Brussel they’re OK with English so if you had this impression I think it was not a language matter but it was really their temper. But they’re also super kind and also a bit crazy, I found so many nice people around and good friends! I think you should come to visit again, and in case let me know 😉
I am a big Magritte fan too!

3-Lost in Translation is one of my favorite movies, if not my favorite of all. I don’t know if you saw it, but in my video about my 2009 Japan trip (it’s in my blog, it is called “I heart Japan”) I couldn’t refrain to use a song of the Lost in Translation soundtrack (even though my soundtrack of that trip is the album “Scorpio Rising” from Death in Vegas. When I listen to it even now is like I am back in Tokyo or Kyoto again)… In my mind Japan is a mixture of that movie, what I know about it through mangas, animes, books and dramas and what I actually saw there… Every three-four months I watch it again to feel Japan nearer 🙂 strange isn’t it?

3-That’s my favorite rain: a sleepy afternoon at home, maybe a November cold day, with my cup of tea looking outside the window or watching a movie with a cover on my legs… but rain like here, every day for the most part of the year, it’s a bit too much 😀

I saw on your profile that you are half Japanese and half German. Did you know that Germany is my second favorite country of the world after Japan?? I even used to speak German quite well in high school (I did my high-school thesis on the Faust myth and I read the book from Goethe in original language!I love German literature and culture)but unluckily now I am losing it… I should definitely start studying it again and save it!

Uh my what a long comment, sorry!! It’s just that I am starting to see you as the upgraded version (I am the beta version) of what I love and what I would like to be so I feel excited and I start to talk a lot!

No, I’m not crazy. I think.

    A kiss!
