Yeah, I know: I should be able to come up with a more original headline, since I write for a living. Nevermind…

A couple of weeks ago I passed by the Celine store in Mall of the Emirates and saw the platforms, THE wooden platforms in the window. I always wanted to know how it feels to walk on them, so I went in and asked for my size. They didn’t have them. (I’ve tried one size bigger – they were too big, but so comfortable.)  I had another look around, saw those brown mules, and just as I thought “oh hello, how ugly are you two nickel mid-heel fellas”, the shop assistant said the magic words: “Oh, but those we have in your size.” And since I’m deeply convinced that shoes in my size actually don’t exist (that’s what shop assistants keep on telling me), I responded – like Pavlov’s dog. I tried them on and they were the most comfortable shoes I’d ever tried.

It was love at second sight. They are not the most beautiful shoes I own. They are… different. But I knew I would wear them to death. And that’s what’s just happening. I wear them almost every day. I can even walk around in malls for hours in them. They make me feel so good. I love them. The moral of the story: Don’t judge a shoe/book by its cover.

I really tried to take a close-up shot, but it wasn’t possible. As you can see…

PS 1 It’s funny that I like the rest of my outfit to be at least one or two sizes too big. How would you call that – pathological?

PS 2 I’d loved to work on my blog on a regular basis, but that’s not possible because of my workload at – yep – work. Please bear with me.

  1. Oh, but those are fab! And very unique… I think getting them was the right choice. I often find that many things don’t really look good until you try them on, so I try not to judge a book by… the shelf it’s on? A huge bonus that they’re comfortable too.

  2. The shoes look wonderfully comfortable & elegant – which is an unusual combination in itself. And yay for cat accompanied outfit posts!

  5. First: I really really like your style. The cut jeans and the oversize black shirt, they are really cool.

Second: You really look extremely good with long straight hair (comparing to the other few pictures I saw of you). They are so beautiful and healthy, you should always show them to the world! And I think that this hair-style really suits also your clothing style.

Third: The shoes aren’t ugly at all!! If you consider that I have to use gym shoes (or flats, but only in summer 😦 )as comfortable shoes, now you understand what ugly means…
Indeed, I think you did a good purchase: they’re nice, they’re comfortable and they’re your size… Perfection!!

And I love you nail polish 😀

Big kisses to you and your cats!

  6. Firstly, WHY DIDN’T I MEET YOU IN DUBAI?!! LOL, and secondly, those shoes ARE gorgeous!! I totally agree with you, sometimes I really have to try the shoes on before I realize that they are the most elegant, unique, sophisticated, comfortable shoes in the world. Oh and thirdly, I love Almaz by Momo in Harvey Nicholls at the Mall of Emirates xoxo

  8. so true what you said about judging shoes by their cover…sometimes we have to try something on to really know. i think i know those celine wedges you’re talking about…i want a pair myself, but i believe you and i are same shoe size, which is TINY.
anyway…i love your celine sandals! they seem molded to your feet, as if they were made for you!
