Something blue.

Filed under: Uncategorized — blindcopy @ 12:14 am

No, this post is neither about Will and Kate nor about bridal fashion or anything related to weddings (but I have to admit, that I’m really curious to see what kind of wedding dress Kate has chosen for her big day and if it makes her look a little less frumpy than her everyday outfits).

This is my current nail polish, YSL Duo Favourite Chic No. 5 (the other part of the duo is a mink tone). I love it. What a shame that it will take only 2-3 days max. until it starts chipping.

For those who don’t know what “something blue” has to do with weddings: it goes back to an old English tradition, according to which the bride should wear “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue.” (I would love to see Kate wearing a blue nail polish.)

  1. lovely colour!!
yes I am curious too about the wedding dress!!
do you use a top coat after the varnish? I totally recommend essie’s “good to go”. It dries in no time and prolongs nail polish life 😛

    • good to go – already on top of my nails 🙂 and i agree, it’s really good. unfortunately, i’m so clumsy and don’t really take care of my hands/nails + as a writer i have to type a lot, that’s why my polish chips quickly.

  2. what an exquisite blue hue!
blue nail polish on the royal princess? now that would be pretty cool but i don’t think we can expect it. 🙂 i agree with you about her sartorial choices; let’s hope her style evolves into less frumpy day-to-day attire.

    • thank you, and yes: i think she dresses terribly old-fashioned for her age.

  3. Great color, but I agree that it’s a shame nail polish always chips so fast. This shade is perfect for the spring season. Have to agree about the royal wedding too. I’m not all that interested, but I am curious as to what dress Kate will be wearing. I’m generally not a fan of her every day style.

    • thanks! and same here: not interested at all in weddings in general and royal weddings in particular – but i do hope that kate takes the chance and goes for a really cool dress (i mean, she’s really got some amazing designers to choose from, hasn’t she?)

  4. I’m also waiting for the big royal wedding day, Kate is so gorgeous!!!

Did you do your own manicure? It’s tidy and perfect 🙂

Hmmmm you’re a mac user too! We’re Macheads tee hee!

    • no, i would never be able to do my own manicure. god bless dubai’s amazing and affordable nailspas (believe me – everybody’s having their nails done here. even my best friend from germany who couldn’t care less about her nails – when she’s on a visit, an appointment at the nailspa is a must 🙂 )

and yesssss, it must be a mac – and not only because “it’s like soooo beautiful” 😉

  5. sorry…
ambitious but rubbish! only good for/ after gardening, but for that i propose to have a gardener.

    • we fired our useless gardener 🙂 so i think i will have to stick to blues, greens… and browns, they are actually perfect for me. 🙂

  6. She totally needs you as her stylist, Kazuko. This would be the coolest ‘something blue’ ever! I still don’t know how to deal with the whole wedding – stay glued to the tv? just ignore it?

    Comment by Sabine — April 27, 2011 @ 11:08 pm

    • thanks, Sabine! 🙂 hm, even though i thought i would not be interested at all in the entire will+kate thing, i think i would watch the ceremony if i could. (oh, i actually can – it’s on friday, and we’re off on fridays.) and you get a day off for it – how good is that?

  8. If there’s something I hate more than polish that chips off is an EXPENSIVE polish that chips off! Grrrrr! I had it with Chanel!
But the color looks great!! I love how it’s full and creamy. I have two or three shades of dark blue (much darker than this but still…) and I wear them very often, I love them for summer too!

    xxx Al

    • what? with chanel? oh that’s bad. maybe it was a “monday” bottle (we have this saying in germany, that products which have been produced on a monday might come with flaws because on monday everybody is still in weekend mood and therefore maybe not focussed enough to do a good job). i often use chanel varnish (before that i always used the ones they offer in the nail spa – essie) and i was always under the impression that it lasts longer than other polishes.
