Hair. A never ending story.

Filed under: Uncategorized — blindcopy @ 10:30 pm

I’ve been a brunette my entire life – being half Japanese it’s a given. Accepted. Yes, I could have bleached my hair, but again – I never really thought about it and I also didn’t want to ruin my hair (dry, split ends and all that). But from time to time I would look at models with platinum blonde/white/grey/pink/violet hair – sighing. And not only since Kristen McMenamy I would dream of hair like this…

Then I saw a before/after picture of Erika Bearman aka OscarPRGirl, who has turned from a (natural, I believe) brunette to a blonde – the ultimate affirmation for me that brunettes are beautiful and all, but blondes… blondes just look… cheekier? Sexier?

In recent pictures her hair looked even more white, which I really love! (And she kept her dark eye brows! I say: yes!)

However, I’m still a brunette – and I’m not going to change that. My hair’s been through a lot – especially here in Dubai with this crazy heat, sand, salty sea water and chemical hair treatments. No more experiments. All is good. And right then, when I had come to terms with my dark brown hair, what do I discover (more and more – and more – every day) on my head? White/grey hair! No surprise here. I mean, I’m turning 40 in only two months… So, I’ve thought of dying it brown, the roots at least. But then again – why? This is going to be my chance to boast white-ish, grey-violet-ish hair, eventually! I just don’t know how (and if) I will survive the transition period (without dying, tweezing…)? Recommendations welcome!

  1. I wanted it so much! Now everybody has this “bleached Dips” that I have after trying to become grey…so for me it’s time to try something different to change my style! Your hair is perfect! Healthy, straight, long and variable….envy…Your sister with this boring middle length black hair! xoxo

  2. I admire naturally white/grey hair and some people pull it off beautifully. The transition is probably a real pain. I assume I’ll eventually be all white headed as my mom – who has the most glorious champagne grey hair, naturally – but I could end up like my aunt with a mix of original dark blond (my natural hair color) and grey. Her solution has been to dye (red, in fact!). I figure with my bleached blond color, the greys I have/get are going to be well blended. But if I had dark hair…I’m not sure what I’d do. I’ll bet you will be beautiful with grey hair…or whatever you decide to do.

  3. Erika Bearman looks better with her natural hair. I do not like colored blonde hair. It is so unnatural! Natural blonde — yes!!! But colored blonde? A big NO! I am u brunette with some grey hair, too, and I have never colored my hair.

  4. I’m a natural brunette and that’s exactly how I plan to stay. I’ve done the colour change thing – been bright red, blonde and black but when I reached 30 a few years ago, I realised that actually, being a brunette is best for me. Every time I see Beyoncé’s honey coloured locks, I think about changing again but then I think about the time and money needed to keep it looking good. Natural is the way to go, for me at least.

  5. You know, blondes have more fun, but brunettes more sex.

First 3 pictures – stunning, but for Erika Bearman – I prefer her natural hair color.

“…blondes just look… cheekier? Sexier” – really? Kardashians, hellou? 🙂 I was bleaching mine to platinum for many years and one day – looking at photos – I realized, I must go back to my own color immediately to get my mojo back (my stylist teared a bit when he realized I wasn’t kidding.) As far as grey hair – I don’t color mine just yet b/c it looks similar to Stacy London.
